Chandler Book Design would like to congratulate author Catherine Cooper for recently selling her 1000th self-published book.
Over the past year Catherine of Pengridion Books with the assistance of Chandler Book Design has created, illustrated and designed three childrens books,
The Golden Acorn, Glasruhen Gate and Hawke and Co
Before becoming a self-publishing author Catherine Cooper was a primary school teacher of 29 years, this experience gave her an insight in to the inner workings of a child’s mind and judging by her sales for this year she has got that down to a tee. Catherine promoted and distributed each of her books herself, using the internet, a number of bookshops and touring her books around primary schools, book fairs and festivals.
Her love of history, myths, legends and the Shropshire countryside gave her the ideal grounding to write an extraordinary magical fantasy adventure.
Please see below, the front cover designs illustrated by Catherine and Ron Cooper, and the books synopsis’s.
Jack Brenin’s life changes the moment he finds a golden acorn lying in the grass. He gets caught up in an extraordinary magical adventure and enters a world he only believed existed in legend. He’s sure he’s been mistaken for someone else. How could he possibly be ‘The One’ an ancient prophecy speaks about, he’s neither brave nor strong? He’s no idea why he’s expected to help, unsure if he wants to, or even if he can.
When Jack Brenin found out, beyond doubt, he was ‘The One’ written about in an ancient prophecy, his whole life changed. Now, armed with the golden acorn, his wand and newly acquired skills, Jack must fulfil his promise and ensure Glasruhen Gate is opened, before it’s too late. His new friends are depending on him. Jack doesn’t want to let anyone down but knows he has to be courageous and overcome his doubts, if they’re to succeed.
Hawke’s new neighbour accused him of spying on them through a hole in the fence, almost poked his eye out and called him an ‘oik’. He’d declared war on them but now he needed a plan, a master plan, something to teach the snobs next door a lesson, one they’d never forget. Unfortunately, even the best plans don’t always work out the way you expect.
