Having found us on the world wide web Ian decided to pay us a visit, flying in from Andorra almost immediately after making contact with Frankie, our sales and marketing director. Following a single meeting and briefing between Ian, Frankie and designer Lewis, work got underway.

With the client half way around the world you’d expect the design process to be longer and time consuming but this was not the case, from initial concepts through to final designs, communication by phone and email was prompt, almost like he was in the next town or city. Ian had a set idea and style of how he wanted the books pages to look, although he was still open to the ideas of designer Lewis, the end combination resulting in a visually pleasing piece of design.

Ian Woodall is a motivational speaker and his book will be available to all those who attend one of his talks or lectures.

Chandler Book Design are in the process of designing an array of branding and marketing material for Ian and his book. This will include Business Card, Leaflets, Flyers, Posters and a newly designed web-site.

Short History of Silver Cross

Silver Cross is Britain’s oldest pram company, making prams and pushchairs for children since 1877. The company is based in Leeds, Yorkshire where the very first Silver Cross pram was produced by William Wilson – a postman who started his own business making post carts and perambulators.

The Victorian era is when the pram first came into popular use. Original prams were based on the same designs as full-sized carriages and were originally pulled by dogs or ponies. Wealthy families commissioned their carriage makers to make smaller vehicles for their babies and owning a pram was soon seen as a status symbol. Queen Victoria herself was famous for using prams and there was even a pram named after her that remained one of the most popular models for over fifty years.

In the 1920s the company sealed its reputation as a maker of quality prams when they produced a baby carriage for the royal family. The name became synonymous with quality and rich parents strived to buy the latest model of Silver Cross pram for their children.

The brand continued to strengthen with new models produced every year and became somewhat of a fashion statement in the 60s for trendy mothers. During this time the company also extended their range into highchairs and other nursery furniture.

In the 60s the company also started to produce miniature versions of their full-size prams for dolls. Children could now own their very own doll’s pram just like mother’s!

As technology improved, the designs of Silver Cross prams evolved to meet the needs of modern parents. Prams produced and sold today are lightweight and flexible and there are a range of models to suit every mother – twin prams, jogging prams, you name it – Silver Cross continues to be one of the most popular producers of prams in the UK.

Catherine promoted and distributed each of her books herself, using the internet, a number of bookshops and touring her books around primary schools, book fairs and festivals.

Her love of history, myths, legends and the Shropshire countryside gave her the ideal grounding to write an extraordinary magical fantasy adventure.

Jack Brenin’s life changes the moment he finds a golden acorn lying in the grass. He gets caught up in an extraordinary magical adventure and enters a world he only believed existed in legend. He’s sure he’s been mistaken for someone else. How could he possibly be ‘The One’ an ancient prophecy speaks about, he’s neither brave nor strong? He’s no idea why he’s expected to help, unsure if he wants to, or even if he can.

When Jack Brenin found out, beyond doubt, he was ‘The One’ written about in an ancient prophecy, his whole life changed. Now, armed with the golden acorn, his wand and newly acquired skills, Jack must fulfil his promise and ensure Glasruhen Gate is opened, before it’s too late. His new friends are depending on him. Jack doesn’t want to let anyone down but knows he has to be courageous and overcome his doubts, if they’re to succeed.

Hawke’s new neighbour accused him of spying on them through a hole in the fence, almost poked his eye out and called him an ‘oik’. He’d declared war on them but now he needed a plan, a master plan, something to teach the snobs next door a lesson, one they’d never forget. Unfortunately, even the best plans don’t always work out the way you expect.

Conversations With My Father is a book of discovery, of realising a long- forgotten life, disregarded and shrouded in pain and anger. Part biography, part memoir and part social history, fundamentally, it is concerned with questions.

The events of childhood, of war-time, and of the painful adjustments to Civvy Street, were so long ago, so irrelevant, half-stories and legends lay hidden in an enigmatic black and white portrait. Sixty years later, the same, by now old man, dies reflecting dismissively on a seemingly unadorned life.

Demob and Civvy Street see the beginning of a new adventure-filled life: the struggles just to get by are replaced with the effort of coping with the demands of Cross-Channel ferry traffic and the birth of commercial aviation – British European Airways’ role in the Berlin Airlift and its massive growth into the 1950s. But there is more.

Told with candour and good humour, Conversations With My Father is a story of boyhood dreams, ambitions fulfilled and hopes dashed. It is a real and wonderful true story of how a life deemed worthless may now be celebrated.

Molly Makepeace Jamison never expects to dabble in Voodoo. But when she discovers that her husband Bob has been stealing away her advertising agency while cavorting with his mistress of many years, she has good reason to adorn his effigy with a few sharp pins. After all, venting a little righteous anger can’t hurt anyone.

But Molly inadvertently taps into something deep and mysterious, and it produces shocking results. When Detective Jonathan Wilson lands on her doorstep with a list of pointed questions, Molly envisions the inside of a prison cell and the bed-lined wards of mental institutions.

She knows she has to save herself. Yet as her new choices produce more highs and lows than Chicago’s weather, she worries that her Voodoo dalliance has taken on a life of its own…
